Athena is a black tobiano Gypsian filly. She was born April 28th, 2016. Her dam is our Gypsy mare, Lace and her sire is a ster Friesian stallion named Litrik fan Synaeda. We expected her to make 16 +/- hands at maturity. Athena's color DNA is EE/Tt through parentage. Her build and temperament have a strong Friesian influence. Registered with the Friesian Heritage Horse as a Gypsian as well as the Friesian Blood Horse Registry.
Athena is like a dog in many ways. She comes running to the fence when she sees her people and loves attention. We find her to be very willing to please, even when very unsure or uneasy she seeks her persons guidance. She forms strong bonds with her people, but can be weary of strangers. Extremely smart and engaged, Athena notices everything and catches on to new lessons very quickly. She ties, bathes, clips, picks up feet and loads the trailer. Just like many Gypsies and Friesians, Athena does have dry skin. We treat this with an application of MTG about once a month.
The Gypsian is a new and developing breed that does have its own registry within the Friesian Heritage Horse If you love the Gypsy breed but want something taller, more elegant and athletic or you love Friesians but you want something with more color, bone and hair, this may be the perfect cross for you.
